Assemblies can be built and inspected to IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 Class 2 or Class 3 requirements when those requirements are specified.

IPC quality standards

IPC standards give the build a clear workmanship target.

IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 are central reference points for electronics assembly quality. They help define what acceptable workmanship looks like for solder joints, component placement, cleanliness, hardware, wire connections, and other assembly details.

When a customer specifies Class 2 or Class 3 requirements, Micron can align the build, inspection expectations, and documentation to that class. This is especially important for assemblies used in industrial, medical, aerospace/defense, instrumentation, and other applications where reliability and consistency matter.

ISO status: ISO 9001 work is currently in progress. This page does not claim that ISO 9001 certification has been awarded. Micron continues to strengthen process documentation, quality controls, and continuous-improvement practices as part of that effort.

Many electronics programs cannot be reduced to automated placement and reflow alone. Connectors, odd-form components, wires, mechanical interfaces, rework, engineering changes, mixed-technology boards, and thermal-mass challenges often require skilled hand soldering and close visual inspection.

Micron’s hand soldering work is especially valuable for customers with Through Hole assemblies, prototypes, NPI builds, repair/rework needs, and products where small workmanship details can affect performance, reliability, or field service life.

Inspection and test requirements vary by design, market, component package, customer specification, and production stage. Micron can support inspection planning for SMT, Through Hole, mixed-technology assemblies, first articles, and recurring production builds.

For assemblies that require additional verification, inspection and test support may include visual inspection, AOI, X-ray for hidden solder joints or package concerns, customer-supplied functional test, programming, serialization, and final acceptance checks.

Can Micron build to IPC Class 3?

Yes. When Class 3 is specified by the customer, Micron can align workmanship and inspection expectations to IPC Class 3 requirements. The requirement should be identified during quote review so it is reflected in the build plan.

Is Micron ISO 9001 certified?

ISO 9001 is currently in progress and has not been awarded yet. Customers should view Micron’s ISO work as an active quality-system initiative rather than a current certification.
